  Moderate to fast growing evergreen shrub, airy and spreading, from California. Design height is 10', mature height is 20'. Also known as Fremontia californica. Simple leaves alternately arranged, 1 to 2" long, medium green, palmately lobed and round. Simple yellow/orange flowers, showy, blooms April through June. Fruit: brown 1" capsules in fall.

Prefers full sun, no water, rocky and sandy soil. Tolerates drought, heat and poor soil. Propagates from cuttings and seed. Little pruning required, head back, pinch during growth, prune after bloom. Good for erosion control, and as a specimen.
