  Dark green glossy leaves, tiny serration, evergreen. Variable foliage depending on maturity. Alternate arrangement. Native to California, found from Baja to Oregon. Not subject to oak root disease. Drought tolerant and deer proof. Small tree, but also grown as hedge.
