| Perennial native to California. Bulb. Loose or dense raceme of large blue, purple or white flowers, each with 6 tepals. C. quamash has blue flowers, was a source of food for Native Americans. Leaves are linear, 8 to 20" long. Likes moist soil. Good for wildflower meadow or border. (Most botanists categorize this as being in the Hyacinth family, but it's also been placed in Liliaceae).
