Common evergreen South American forest tree, up to 35'. Moderate growth, branching, weeping appearance, airy. Simple 1/2 to 1" leaves, alternately arranged, multi-shaped and dark green. Yellow 1/8" blooms on racemes, in February and March. Prefers full or part sun - ideal for understory. Moderate water, loam and sand. Drought tolerant.
Propagate from seeds and cuttings. Low maintenance, needs little pruning. Blooms on old wood. Uses: backgrounds, espalier, filler, indoors, near pools, oriental effect, screen, specimen, small garden tree, patio tree, Spanish landscape, fine textured screen, wonderful at entry.
