  From California. Fast growing deciduous shrub or vine, from 1-10' tall; spreads wide. Leaves: new growth is reddish, sometimes pink. In fall, it's green, bright red or rusty. Leaves are 1 to 4" long and 1/2 to 3/4" wide, lobed or toothed and orbicular. Axillary greenish flowers, 1/8 to 3/16" in early April. Green (turning white) fruit, 1/8" drupe.

Prefers full sun to part shade, all soil types, tolerates everything. Pest free. Propagate by seed, roots and rhizomes. Prune as needed. Landscape uses: in natural areas, for nice fall color.
