| Evergreen, found close to coast, grows up to 60 to 80'. Good substitute for birch, was doesn't do very well in our climate. Alders have a non-shattering cone, leaves are serrated, margin on bottom in slightly folder under. Photos taken near Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands. |
