| Though used to be classified as a Mahonia, modern classification standards but it in genus Berberis.
Native to California, it's found from Baja to Oregon. Compound leaf, shiny red to bronzy tips in certain light
conditions. On a classic aquifolium, the leaves overlap. Blue-black edible fruit. Low maintenance. Photos taken at Blake House. |
