| From Australia. Moderate growth evergreen tree. Also known as Dracena australis, also has been classified in Liliaceae family. Simple medium green leaves, 18 to 36" long, entire and linear. Flowers: panicles, 1/4 to 1/3", creamy white, blooming in May and June. Fruit: 1/4" berries in fall. Prefers full sun, high to no water. Likes loam, clay, rocky and sandy soil. Tolerates heat, drought, poor soil, salt air and wind. Propagates by seed. OK to thin. Uses: accent, near pools, sea coast, with spanish architecture, specimen, patio tree, street tree, for tropical effect. Photos taken at Strybing. |
